Homemade Chili I enjoy eating this chili. It is gentle in your stomach. It is not too spicy. Soothing, comforting and delicious Recipe and Ingredients Recipe and Ingredients

Recipe

  • 1 onion
  • 3 cloves of garlic
  • 1 green bell pepper, diced
  • 2 Tablespoons olive oil or water
  • 2 28 ounce cans whole peeled tomatoes or crushed tomatoes
  • 1 15 ounce can tomato sauce
  • ½ cup of vegetable broth
  • 3 cans of kidney beans, drained or 1- 52 ounce can
  • 1 can of chili beans
  • 1 can of pinto beans, drained
  • Salt to taste
  • Dash of cayenne (optional)
  • 1 Tablespoon of red pepper flakes
  • 1 Tablespoon of ground cumin
  • 1-2 cups of tvp

Directions

  1. In a large sauce pot, sauté onion, bell pepper and garlic in the olive oil.
  2. Add the tomatoes, vegetable broth, tomato sauce, and seasonings. Stir.
  3. Reduce heat to medium low and add beans. Cook for at least 20 minutes and add tvp.
  4. Simmer for a total of 50 minutes to 1 hour.
